Library                                                                       

The library staff welcomes you to come to the Library for your research and quiet study or to feel free to sit and relax in the more comfortable area in soft chairs or sofa. Operational hours are 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday, Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during the fall and spring semester, and closes daily at 4 p.m. during the summer sessions. The collections at WDT consist of books, ebooks, monographs, periodicals, newspapers, vertical files, charts, videos/DVDs, and departmental collections. The online catalog of collections includes specialized databases that can be accessed on campus or remote through www.sdln.net with an assigned password and barcode  from the Circulation Desk. Students who use the library are welcome to use library equipment, including the computer lab, laser printer, scanner, copier, typewriter, and TV/VCR/DVD for classroom assignment makeup. Library services include proctoring of makeup tests, including COMPASS (entrance tests), interlibrary loan, reference services, and fax service. Internet and Library policies are enforced to maintain an atmosphere of learning.

Bookstore                                                                 

Western Dakota Tech operates a bookstore that provides students with textbooks (both new and used), supplies, clothing, and a variety of soft goods. All sales are cash, personal checks (for the amount of purchase only), or credit card unless funded by an authorized agency. The Bookstore hours are posted. Refunds are given for merchandise in original condition the first two weeks of each semester only and must be accompanied by a receipt.

Dakota Grill                                                            

Western Dakota Tech provides food service with a daily menu including breakfast, lunch specials, and a variety of short orders. Catering services will also be provided as requested and approved.

Career Services                                                        

The purpose of Western Dakota Tech is to provide an educational experience to prepare students for employment. Once career skills are acquired, it is the function of the Career Services Office to assist each student’s transition from school to work. The Career Services office informs students and alumni of employment opportunities and assists them in presenting themselves effectively as job candidates. In addition, the Career Services Office assists students with resume writing, interview skills, and networking. The staff compiles a yearly Graduate Placement Report that identifies wage trends and employers who hire WDT graduates.

Academic Preparation                                            

Western Dakota Tech is dedicated to helping students succeed in their chosen academic field. Upon completion and review of the COMPASS exam, students may be required to enroll in classes designed to upgrade their skills in math, writing, and reading. Academic preparation classes are each two credits and do not count toward the program graduation requirement. Please contact the Student Services Office for specific information.

Academic Skills Center/Study Skills                               

The Academic Skills Center offers course-specific tutoring for students enrolled in certificate, diploma, or Associate of Applied Science degree courses. The service is free and designed to give individualized attention to students who want to improve their performance in specific curriculum areas. The Center employs peer tutors who are assigned based upon their area of expertise. Various study skill workshops are conducted. The topics include note taking, memory skills, listening skills, time management, and test taking.

Special Services Program                                      

This program provides support services to the minority, single parent, displaced homemaker, single pregnant women, first-generation, and non-traditional student populations. Services provided include financial assistance; resource and referral with local agencies; academic, career and personal counseling; vocational training; and social and cultural activities.

Counseling Services                                                

The mission of Counseling Services is to provide quality counseling and guidance to students at WDT, tailored to each unique individual’s circumstances and needs, while maintaining a healthy perspective in their physical, mental, emotional, educational, and social well-being.
