WDT to honor 2009-2010 scholarship winners
Students at Western Dakota Tech were awarded over $114,000 in scholarships during the 2009-2010 school year. To honor the scholarship recipients, Western Dakota Technical Institute will hold its ninth-annual Scholarship Recognition Ceremony Wednesday, April 28, at 2:30 p.m. in the Commons.
Students, staff, and donors will be on hand to help recognize the scholarship recipients. An ice cream social will begin the festivities at 2:30 p.m. followed by the actual Recognition Ceremony at 3:00 p.m.
“We are very fortunate to have the support of families, companies and organizations that invest in our students and help ease the financial challenges they experience in pursuing their education,” states Starla Russell, Manager of Financial Aid. “The work of our Foundation, coupled with the generosity of those contributing to our scholarship program, has enabled students to purse educational funding opportunities that may otherwise pose challenges to earning their degree. This annual event is held to thank our scholarship donors and recognize the students who receive their gift.”
The dollar amount contributed by organizations has more than tripled since 1999. The following is the amount distributed to Western Dakota Tech students.

- 2003-2004: $75,000
- 2004-2005: $73,000
- 2005-2006: $96,000
- 2006-2007: $93,000
- 2007-2008: $128,000
- 2008-2009: $136,000
- 2009-2010: $114,000
