Bio:
Mandy Hertel is the Western Dakota Technical College Social Science Program Director overseeing Sociology and Economics. She started as a Sociology and Psychology Instructor at the college in 2012.
Hertel has a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Psychology from Black Hills State University and
a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology from Capella University.
Prior to her career as an instructor, Hertel spent 16 years dedicated to helping people with disabilities overcome adversity and reach life goals. This included direct support, case management, and director positions.
In 2021, Hertel received the inaugural American Technical Education Association (ATEA) Impact to Technical Education Award.
Hertel is a proud alumni of Leadership Rapid City and a founding member of the Rapid City Day of Excellence, Inc.
