Job Summary: The Program Assistant provides administrative support to program staff. The incumbent is responsible for a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, updating and maintaining program records, coordinating travel and events and assisting with reports.
Essential Functions: Coordinate project activities under the direction of the Program Manager and/or Director. Aid in the completion of contracts and purchase orders. Submit and track travel requests. File and track project expenses in both paper copies and spreadsheets. Assist in obtaining quotes and supplies for all program-related activities. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on program activities. Aid in phone coverage for the program and GPTCHB. Assist with scheduling meetings, workshops, and tribal site visits. Copy and assemble handouts for meetings/events. Assist with reviewing and submitting reports, grants, and other project documents. Attend meetings and record notes/minutes for meetings as requested. Actively participate in meetings/events by providing ideas and suggestions on initiatives. Aid in recruitment and outreach for participants in workshops and events. Must comply with federal laws and regulations as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Performs related duties.

Supervisory Controls The supervisor provides continuing or individual assignments by indicating generally what is to be done, limitations, quality and quantity expected, deadlines, and priority of assignments. When there are new, difficult, or unusual assignments, the supervisor provides additional, specific instructions for including suggested work methods or advice on source material available. The supervisor reviews finished work to assure methods used are technically accurate and in compliance with instructions or established procedures.
Guidelines There are established procedures for doing the work and a number of specific guidelines are available as a resource. The employee may be required to use judgment in locating and selecting the most appropriate guidelines, references, and procedures for application and in making minor deviations to adapt the guidelines to specific cases. Guidelines include GPTCHB, OHC, and department policies and procedures.
Complexity/Scope of Work The work consists of related steps, processes, or methods. The decision regarding what needs to be done involves various choices that require the employee to recognize the existence of and differences among a few easily recognizable situations. The work product or service affects the accuracy, reliability, or acceptability of further processes, services, and/or patient care.
Contacts The personal contacts are with employees throughout the organization and are generally engaged in different functions and kinds of work, and may be representatives from various levels. Other personal contacts at this level include contact with partner organizations, Tribal affiliate organizations, and members of the general public. The purpose is to plan, coordinate, or advise on work efforts, or to resolve operating problems by influencing or motivating individuals or groups who are working toward mutual goals and who have basically cooperative attitudes.
Work Environment/Physical Demands The characteristic demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing or stooping. The work is typically performed in an office and the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers to manipulate, handle, or feel; and, talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move light objects. Educational Requirements  Required: High School, Diploma or G.E.D.  Preferred: Diesel Mechanic Certification Experience Requirements  Minimum 1 year experience in heavy equipment repair.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities  Mathematical abilities at the level required to perform basic measurements and calculations.  Fluency in the English language (read, write and speak)  Must be “alert” and aware of surroundings  Modern principles, practices, equipment, materials and tools used in the servicing, maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment.  Must use the skill of active learning by understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem solving and decision making.  Must have the skill to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
Physical Requirements  Must be able to sit, stand, kneel and climb for extended periods of time  Body movements: Walking, turning, stooping and reaching for and carrying materials, stepping over/around obstacles.  Body sense: Must hear well enough to understand oral directions. Must see to read forms, labels, directions, prints and specifications.  Must be able to consistently get into and out of heavy earth-moving equipment, most of which is elevated well above ground level.  The ability to grasp, manipulate, and control levers, pedals, steering wheels, and switches on heavy earth-moving equipment.  Must be able to consistently lift a minimum of 75lbs dead weight
Licensing Requirements  Required: Valid Class A CDL (or willing to acquire within 30 days)

WORKING CONDITIONS This position works at a variety of job sites. Travel to and from sites may be in extreme weather conditions. This will often involve being exposed to the smell of diesel exhaust fumes and may involve being exposed to hot and cold outdoor weather, dusty and dirty conditions on job sites. The normal workday will be from 8 to 12 hours. The hours may be longer during peak construction seasons. Weekend work may be necessary.

Basic Function Under the direction of the Department Production Supervisor and in cooperation with the Team Leader, weld metal components safely with welding equipment to correctly fit and join, fabricate, and/or repair heavy and large mechanical products in the production process of heavy and large mechanical products, per specifications and in accordance with the production schedule, making independent decisions with minimal direct supervision given appropriate instructions.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities 1. Perform welding duties using wire welding GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), and FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding). 2. Weld steel components with appropriately set/adjusted welding equipment in accordance with the material(s) for the process, procedures, layouts, blueprints, diagrams, work orders, work instructions, oral instructions, and all quality requirements. This involves reading, understanding, and following a tape measure, work order specifications, blueprints, diagrams, work instructions, oral instructions, and specified procedures. 3. Individual welds range from simple tack welds to complex welds, performed in varying positions and spaces. Welding work involves set-up and laying out work using templates and fixtures to fabricate, modify, or repair parts and/or products. 4. Operate or use various hand, power, and air tools including welding gun, scrapers, grinders (portable & bench), wrenches, hammer, cutting torches, drills, punches, a tape measure, and Air Arc. Also operate or use forklifts, and overhead hoists and cranes with associated rigging equipment. 5. Keep welding equipment and tools operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; follow manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshoot malfunctions; call for repairs; and complete daily check sheets. 6. Acquire Company welding certification per D1.1 requirements administered by the KPI Quality Assurance Dept., appropriate for assigned welding projects. AWS 1G qualification skills are the minimum requirement for all KPI Welder positions. 7. Inspect, clean, and improve welds as necessary to meet product and quality specifications.
