WDTC Scholarship Applications Open with more than $1.25 Million Available for Students

Western Dakota Technical College (WDTC) is committed to making college affordable and accessible for all students and is encouraging current and incoming students to apply for scholarships for the Fall 2026 Semester by March 31. The Fall Semester will start in August.

More than $1.25 million in scholarship funding is available for the 2026–2027 award cohort. This includes more than $1 million in full-ride Build Dakota Scholarships, with more than 70 scholarships available across 21 eligible high-demand programs. In addition, the Western Dakota Tech (WDT) Foundation offers more than 30 additional scholarships totaling approximately $250,000.

Students Named to 2025 Fall Semester Dean's List Announced

January 21, 2026

Western Dakota Technical College (WDTC) congratulates the 191 students named to the 2025 Fall Semester Dean's List. To qualify, students must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for a minimum of 12 credits in a given semester.

The Dean's List begins with South Dakota students and their hometowns followed by additional states and students.

Main Campus Closed/No In-Person Classes Remainder of Day on Fri., Jan. 16

Due to a power outage at the Main WDTC Campus, all in-person classes are cancelled the remainder of the day today (Fri., Jan. 16). Also, the campus is now closed for business and will reopen on Tues., Jan. 20. (Closed Mon., Jan. 19, in observance of Martin Luther King. Jr. Day.)

Degree Programs

Established in 1968, Western Dakota Technical College is the only technical college that serves the western South Dakota region. The college delivers a personal, career-oriented education ideal for the student pursuing a meaningful profession and prideful future. Faculty, staff, and administration are committed to teaching the knowledge, skills, and behaviors students need to find be successful. Ninety-nine percent of Western Dakota Technical College's most recent graduates are working, continuing their education, or are enlisted in the military. We pride ourselves on providing the best possible facilities and technology and recently completed a significant expansion to the campus. Through hands-on learning, simulation, internships, and industry partnerships, our students graduate ready to make a real and immediate contribution to their employers and communities.
