Western Dakota Tech continues to prepare for an exciting future full of opportunity. The college hosted a Grand Opening ceremony for multiple, completed expansion projects on March. 16.
The Grand Opening featured tours of the new Medical Simulation Center, Event Center and Kitchen remodel.
“This is a wonderful day at Western Dakota Tech. We are excited to showcase these beautiful new areas,” said Ann Bolman, Ed.D., Western Dakota Tech President. “The Medical Simulation Center will help enhance the education of our students in a safe, state-of-the art environment. The Event Center will provide a large gathering space for Western Dakota Tech events, conferences, regional training opportunities, and community events. The Kitchen remodel has rejuvenated the commons area and made expanded services possible.”
Grand Opening speakers included Dr. Bolman; Sheryl Kirkeby, Rapid City Area Schools Board Member; and Jay Johnson, NRP, CCEMT-P, Regional Manager of Medical Air Rescue Company. Many thanks to everyone who participated and attend this event.
Dr. Bolman thanked a long list of people and groups for their efforts which made the building and remodel projects possible – from South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard, Rapid City Area Schools Superintendent Dr. Lori J. Simon and the Board of Education, to the architects, contractors and many others.
Kirkeby thanked Dr. Bolman for her leadership and invited the public to view and utilize Western Dakota Tech’s new facilities.
Johnson said he was impressed by the outcome of Western Dakota Tech’s construction projects.
“This is an absolutely wonderful facility,” he said. “With this Medical Simulation Lab, I can tell you - we have been around the country and have never seen anything like this. It is fantastic! This is also a really great event center – one of the best in the area. We are planning to have a symposium here in September and are proud to do that as part of our partnership with Western Dakota Tech.”
