WDT Experiences Largest Technical College Enrollment Increases in South Dakota

The South Dakota Board of Technical Education announced via news release today, Sept. 30, that of the state's four technical colleges, Western Dakota Tech (WDT) has had the largest growth in headcount and full-time equivalent students fall semester 2019. WDT is now the state's third largest technical college. This is exciting news for WDT.

Black Hills Area Community Foundation Awards $50,000 to eWaste Recycling & Student Education Project

Echo Works Collaborating with Western Dakota Tech to Establish eWaste Recycling Location, Program

This year marked the second year the Black Hills Area Community Foundation (BHACF) awarded the $50,000 Community Action Grant for 2019.This year’s recipient is Black Hills Works (BHW) to support their Echo Works Project. Black Hills Works is collaborating with Western Dakota Tech to develop the program.

The grants were announced at a grant celebration on Sept. 18. This year, 20 organizations indicated an interest in applying for the grant and the BHACF invited six organizations to apply. All finalists submitted requests for innovative projects with the potential for great impact, which made the final selection process difficult.

Ultimately, the Black Hills Works: Echo Works Project was selected based on the partnerships formed, the multiple areas of impact from environment to employment and student education, and the gap in services to our community that Echo Works will address.

Western Dakota Tech Named 'Great College to Work For' for Second Consecutive Year

Western Dakota Tech is one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to a new survey by The Great Colleges to Work For program. This honor puts the South Dakota college in elite company.

Not only has Western Dakota Tech been named a Great College to Work For, it has also made the esteemed Honor Roll – both for the second consecutive year! Western Dakota Tech is one of four total, 2-year institutions in the small colleges category to be named to the Honor Roll.

High School Students - Explore Future Careers at Career Expo Sept. 26

Whether you are a high school student who knows what you want to do following graduation, or you are not quite sure, plan to attend Western Dakota Tech's ninth annual Career Expo, Thursday, Sept. 26. The event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon in Rushmore North at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center; registration is not required.

High School Students Invited to Participate In Mechanical Expo

High school students interested in a career in the automotive and/or diesel industry will want to attend the college’s Mechanical Expo, in the Western Dakota Badlands Hall building, on Wednesday, Sept. 11. There will be two open periods for high school students to visit: 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
