Register Today for WDTC FREE All-Program Camp Set for March 17

Attn: High School Juniors & Seniors

If you are a high school junior or senior undecided about what career you would like to pursue, register today at wdt.edu/camps to attend Western Dakota Technical College’s (WDTC) FREE All-Program Camp. The camp will take place on the WDTC campus, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, March 17. Lunch will be provided.

This camp will focus on career awareness and exploration. The nearly 40 career programs offered by WDTC represent some of the fastest-growing professional fields and industries. Many of the college’s programs are on the South Dakota Department of Labor’s DOL) “Top 30 Hot Career” list. The S.D. DOL defines “Hot Careers” as those in high demand and with high wages. When registering, students will select a group from the following to participate in: Business and Computer Group - Accounting, Business, Library Technician, and Computer Science; Construction Group - Construction Technology, Plumbing, and HVAC/R; Manufacturing Group - Computer-Aided Design, Welding and Fabrication, and Precision Machining; Energy & Environment Group - Electrical Trades, Electrical Trades - Autonomous Equipment Technician, Environmental Engineering, EET - Controlled Environmental Agriculture, Farm and Ranch Management, and Meat Processing; Legal, Public Safety & Transportation Group - Criminal Justice, Criminal Justice-Law Enforcement, EMT/Paramedic, Automotive Technology, and Diesel Technology; Healthcare 1 Group - Medical Assisting, Pharmacy Technician, Surgical Technician, and Dental Assisting; and Healthcare 2 Group - Nursing, Phlebotomy/Medical Lab Technician, Simulation Center, and Health Information Management.
 
“We are excited to offer this special All-Program Camp for high school juniors and seniors to be able to explore their career interests through engaging and informational activities,” said Wanda Roe, WDTC Admissions & Event Specialist. “We find that some students are interested in a type of career but are not sure which specific career best suits them. This camp will allow students to select a group of careers, and find out more about each, which can aid them in deciding what education and career path they want to pursue.”
 
The All-Program Camp schedule is as follows:
·      09:00 a.m. – Check-in at the WDTC Event Center
·      09:20 a.m. – Welcome
·      09:30 a.m. – Group sessions
·      12:30 p.m. - Lunch
 
Sophomore students will be admitted as space allows.
