Kumar Veluswamy Announced as Commencement Speaker
Western Dakota Technical College (WDTC) is proud to announce a series of celebrations honoring its 2025 graduates. The events, showcasing the achievements of students across various disciplines, highlight the college's commitment to excellence in education and career readiness.Celebrations will include the college’s 57th Commencement Ceremony, an Outstanding Graduates Banquet, Registered Nurse and Practical Nurse Pinning Ceremonies, a Law Enforcement Graduation Recognition Ceremony, and a Native American Honoring Ceremony.
Kumar Veluswamy to Deliver Commencement Address
Kumar Veluswamy, pictured, Director of Facilities and Construction at Dream Design International, will serve as the 2025 Commencement Speaker. Veluswamy is a respected leader in infrastructure development and community planning with more than 20 years of experience. He has been a strong advocate for technical education, contributing to the development of WDTC’s hands-on learning spaces and driving transformative community projects across South Dakota.

- Native American Honoring Ceremony - 5:30 p.m., WDTC Event Center.
Saturday, May 17
- Commencement Ceremony - 10 a.m., the Monument Ice Arena, 444 Mt. Rushmore Rd.

ABOUT WESTERN DAKOTA TECHNICAL COLLEGE
Western Dakota Technical College (WDTC) was established in 1968 and is the only technical college serving the western South Dakota region.
WDTC offers more than 40 programs in various fields, including Business and Computers, Construction and Manufacturing, Energy and Environmental Technologies, Health Sciences, Legal and Public Services, and Transportation Technologies.
Ninety-nine percent of Western Dakota Technical College's most recent graduates are working, continuing their education, or are enlisted in the military per the WDTC 2023 Placement Report. There were 353 respondents out of 399 graduates surveyed.
