Electrical Trades Student Named Tradesman of the Month by Tool Box Buzz National Website
Eddie Hillmann, second-year Western Dakota Tech Electrical Trades student, was selected by the national website Tool Box Buzz as Student of the Month for July 2018.
Hillmann, originally from Denver, Colo., was featured in a story and photos on the Tool Box Buzz website on Aug. 3. Hillmann is an electrician’s apprentice, interned with Freeman’s Electric Service in Rapid City, and is a six-year U.S. Air Force veteran.
WalletHub Ranks Western Dakota Tech as One of the Best Community Colleges in U.S.
Western Dakota Tech is honored to be named a 2018 Best Community College by WalletHub. The college is listed as number 148 out of 715 national community colleges in WalletHub’s latest report issued Aug. 20.
South Dakota fared excellent on the report as a whole, with the state being ranked number one for Best Community Colleges. Mitchell Technical Institute, Lake Area Technical Institute, and Sisseton Wahpeton College all made the list and ranked well on the report.

Students Hosting First Mechanical Trade Expo Aug. 24
The Western Dakota Tech Transportation Technology Club will present the first Mechanical Trade Expo on Friday, Aug. 24, noon to 4 p.m., in the Western Dakota Badlands Hall building.

Western Dakota Tech hosted an Economic Impact Summit on Wednesday, Aug. 15, in the Western Dakota Tech Event Center.
The event highlighted the college's economic impact on the western South Dakota region and featured presentations from a variety of industry and campus partners, including the South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation, Black Hills Knowledge Network, and the Rapid City Economic Development Partnership.
