High School Students - Attend Career Expo to Find Job that Best Suits You!

Whether you are a high school student who knows what you want to do following graduation, or you are not quite sure, you should plan to attend Western Dakota Tech's eighth annual Career Expo, Thursday, Sept. 27. The event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon in Rushmore North at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.

Those attending the Expo will have the opportunity to explore more than 20 Western Dakota Tech programs through the activity-rich camp and visit with actual employers about career options.

The Career Expo allows high school students to experience a fun, realistic glimpse into a variety of fields, said Wanda Roe, Western Dakota Tech Admissions and Event Specialist.

"We're committed to helping students realize their potential," Roe said. "Finding a career that fits your personality and goals is the first step toward a successful career."

The Expo focuses on interactive demonstrations to ensure attendees have a personal, hands-on experience with each career field.

"Every booth at the Expo will have an activity for attendees to try," Roe said. "This is the best way to get a feel for a career. It also reflects our hands-on approach to education at Western Dakota Tech."

Examples of some activities Expo participants can participate in include: welding, performing simple blood typing, looking at blood cells and bacteria under a microscope, simulating a blood draw out of a synthetic arm, experiencing a cardiac arrest virtual reality simulation, making and binding a book/journal, etc.
