Howe is Surgical Technology Textbook Contributing Author

Tiffany Howe, CST, CSFA, FAST, MBA, Western Dakota Tech Team Leader/Surgical Technology Program Director, is a contributing author to the fifth edition of the college textbook, “Surgical Technology for the Surgical Technologist, A Positive Care Approach.”

Howe contributed to three chapters - Otorhinolaryngology Surgery, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, and Peripheral Vascular Surgery. The book is the primary textbook used in surgical technology education and it is authored/published by the Association of Surgical Technologists. Western Dakota Tech will begin utilizing the new textbook Fall Semester 2017.

Twenty-four Western Dakota Tech Students Receive Practical Nursing Pins

As the need for nurses in the workforce continues to increase, graduates of Western Dakota Tech are well on their way to helping fill the important positions. Twenty-four Western Dakota Tech students are receiving pins this month for the completion of the Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) Program.

Receiving pins is a traditional symbolic welcoming of Nursing graduates into the Nursing field.

When selecting a college to attend, or an organization to work for, quality and satisfaction ratings can be key decision making factors. The results of two national college reports reveal Western Dakota Tech is excelling in both student success and faculty/staff satisfaction. 
 
Western Dakota Tech has received the "Top Performer" ranking in the 2016 National Community College Benchmark Project. It also earned the highest category ranking ("Very Good to Excellent") in the 2016 Great Colleges to Work For® survey.

Tips to Help Reduce Test-Taking Anxiety

There is almost nothing worse than being well-prepared for a test, but “blanking-out” due to stress when it is time to actually take the test. As students are preparing for semester exams, Western Dakota Tech offers some tips to help reduce test anxiety.

“We want to help test-taking be a little less scary for students,” said Fawn Hall, Western Dakota Tech Student Success Coach. “I have found there are some simple, but highly effective tips to help beat that evil test-taking anxiety.”
